How Often Should You Calibrate?
Most regulatory standards recommend calibration every 3–6 months, or after:

The Gravimetric Calibration Method
The gold standard for pipette calibration uses a calibrated analytical balance and distilled water:
- Set the laboratory temperature to 20–25°C and allow the pipette to equilibrate
- Use a calibrated analytical balance with 0.0001g resolution
- Dispense distilled water into a pre-tared vessel
- Record the mass and convert to volume using the density of water at the measured temperature
- Repeat 10 times and calculate mean, standard deviation, and %CV
- Compare results to ISO 8655 accuracy and precision tolerances
